Exhibit Description
Visitors will get to learn about the job of a tax collector and experience a replica of a sycamore tree and see a real one in the outdoor exhibit area.
Goals of Exhibit
To teach that no matter what size you are, what your job is, or what sins you have committed, Jesus still loves you.
Educational Components
- To be involved in money counting activities
- To learn how taxes are collected – then and now
- To learn the characteristics of a sycamore tree (bark, leaves, height, where it grows, etc.)
- Scavenger hunt of tree types in museum gardens
Craft Components
Trace hand and part of arm for trunk and branches of tree. Add green crepe paper or do fingerprint paint for leaves. Add a Zacchaeus figure sitting on limb
Interactivity/Senses Used
To see a sycamore tree and compare different sizes and materials of coins
To hear about the characteristics of a sycamore tree (bark, leaves, height, where it grows, etc.)
To feel the leaves and bark of a sycamore tree and compare different sizes and materials of coins
